I plan to rework the vintage pieces into something new and I'm going to make a pair of earrings with the lampwork beads similar to these I made previously. And I can totally see me rocking out in the Freshly Minted dress with black capri leggings, a boyfriend blazer, and my nude Dolce Vita heels (and maybe one of those aquamarine cocktail rings I love so much).
*A highly reputable local jeweler talked me out of aquamarine since the stone is too fragile for every day wear and tear. So instead, we are looking at blue diamonds, purple sapphires (which look a lot like tanzanite), and possibly, blue-green tourmaline.
Beautiful aqua finds!
ReplyDeleteStop by when you get a chance! I awarded your blog the Sunshine Award.
That dress is TOO pretty. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteJoy, thanks! I'll check it out as soon as I can!
ReplyDeleteKelly, my dress arrived the other day and I wore it out to dinner with black tights, cognac boots and a long tan cardigan. Sometime when I have time, I will do OOTD posts again and post a pic. :-)
Oooh, purple sapphires? I'm intrigued!
ReplyDeleteYep, purple. Apparently they range in color, some are light and lavender, some are more on the pinkish purple side and then the ones we're looking at look a lot like a deep tanzanite.
ReplyDeleteBut sadly, the blue-green (indicolite) tourmaline is out, as it is too soft for someone like me to have as a daily ring. Apparently, they only recommend something of 8 or harder on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, which means blue topaz may be a possibility, too (it's an 8).
